Finding Your Power in Taurus Season: May 2025 Newsletter

Happy Thursday, May 1st, and Beltane!

May 1st is a special day in the Gaelic tradition.  A celebration of a point between the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice. It is a time of rejoicing, that summer is upon us and that springtime is at its peak.

It also connects to fertility of people and animals, as well as the Earth’s fertility. And you can see that all around you. Springtime is one of my favorite seasons, because you can see all the life that is reemerging. Flowers are blooming, trees are growing leaves again, the birds are active and chirping (sometimes a little too much and then they fly into your window because they are so hyped up on spring ).

This flows perfectly well with the astrology of the time (as it always does with astrology and nature) with Taurus season.

Taurus season is one I know well (me having a Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Taurus) and is one of my favorite seasons.

Just like the tradition of Beltane, Taurus season is about honoring and celebrating the fertility of life, and all of life’s most beautiful things! Good food, a comfortable seat, smells and sights that please the senses.

Tauruses are the most connected to the Earth’s senses- smell, touch, sight, sound and love to explore all of these to the fullest. They are also known as the hedonists of the zodiac, always looking to find pleasure and comfort wherever they can.

And though they get characterized as the laziest sign, that is not necessarily true. They lounge hard, but before that they work just as hard too.

Tauruses are an Earth sign, meaning they value security and stability. They are in it for the long-haul and are willing to put in the work to achieve whatever they have their mind on.

And that is what came up for me on this recent New Moon we had in Taurus.

Happening last Sunday April 27th at 12:31 pm, this New Moon was making a precarious square to Mars in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius which have been opposing each other since the week before and will continue to do so going into next week.

A configuration like that in Fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius are all fixed) is a battle of the most patient, and who has the most stamina.

It can bring up issues with authority and power struggles, and looking at the battle between you and the collective. Where do we need to dig in and fight, and what do we need to let go of?

I’ve been feeling a bit of that in my own personal life goals too. After Aries season I was ready to make drastic, erupt changes and felt this rage of fire to do so. In my mind that was the only way to find justice in a place of my life where I felt powerless.

But then Taurus season came and a different energy came forth. Keywords of: patience, resilience, and neutrality. Can I make the changes I want while also not blowing everything else to the ground? Can I hold off a little longer so that I can strategize and come up with the best plan possible so that I can have the most successful result?

Once I thought of everything in those terms, I realized that the changes I wanted to make were worth the wait.

So if you have been feeling powerless, upset, and like there is way too much injustice in your life, take a pause. Take it from your old friend the Bull who is here to say that the best way to solve problems is to take your time. Come up with a strategy, so that you can then take it step by step, one foot in front of the other. That is truly the Taurean way, and what was highlighted during this New Moon in Taurus.

May this New Moon that just passed give you a sense of what in your life is worth the wait, what is worth continuing to work on.  And to do so with the most balanced and practical way possible. Then allow yourself to lounge, eat a snack, and wear your most comfiest robe. That is the Taurus way: work hard and lounge hard.
